It’s officially spring and time to tackle spring cleaning. Does this mean that spring cleaning will get rid of bugs? Spring cleaning can actually wake up the bugs that have moved into your home during winter.
Here are a few tips to keep the bugs at bay when cleaning:
- Schedule a treatment plan before you begin spring cleaning. Insects will become more active as the temperature warms up.
- Move furniture away from the walls and vacuum underneath beds and sofas to ensure unwanted pests are not staying during spring and summer.
- Walk around the outside of your home and inspect doors and windows. Fresh air is a welcomed change after winter but not if it is accompanied by insects. Make sure the window screens are secure and do not have any tears in the screen. A tear or loose edge provides enough room for an insect to enter into your home.
- Don’t leave doors open. It is easy for a door to be left open when you are carrying out trash or items that you are staging for your spring garage sale. This is an opportunity for insects to move in.
You can reduce the number of insects that can find their way into your home by following these tips.
