July Home Checklist

Summer is in full swing. Take time to complete the following tasks in between dips in the pool, playing in the park and family vacations.

Safety Check

As always it is extremely important to make sure your carbon monoxide detectors as well as the smoke detectors are functioning properly. It is a good idea to test them monthly and replace batteries as needed. Do you have any fire extinguishers in your home or office? If so, check the expiration date.

No Holes Here

With mosquitos in full swing make sure there are no holes in the window screens and keep those unwanted pests outside.

Clean the Porch lights

If you have any light fixtures that are easily removed take them inside for a quick bath. If they are hard to reach no fear! After making sure the electric is turned off, clean the fixtures with a damp cloth and dry with a soft cloth.

Display Your Flag

Get in the spirit and break out your United States of America Flag in honor of the Fourth of July! If you do not have enough space for a full-size flag, try lining the walkway with mini flags.

Furry Friends

Don’t forget about your furry friends this busy season! If you are planning on going out of town make sure you have someone set up to watch your four legged friends! And if you will be away from home on the Fourth of July make sure your dogs feel comfortable and safe from the fireworks!

Pool Safety

If you have a pool in the backyard it is imperative to keep everything secure and up-to-date! Check to make sure the self-closing gate is functioning properly. It is recommended that you teach your children how to swim, even if you don’t have a pool of your own.

Clean the Windows

Nothing is better than being able to gaze out the windows to watch the sunrise or sunset. Take time to clean the windows inside and out! You will love your spotless windows!

Summer Guests

Guests love to be pampered. You can do just that by making the bed with fresh sheets and towels. The little things go a long way. Leave bottled water in the room along with travel size toiletries and even the Wi-Fi password.

Add Some Shade

Make your backyard more comfortable by adding an umbrella, which gives you a space to beat the heat.

Traveling

Before heading out of town let your neighbors know that you will be traveling so they can keep an eye on your home. Motion-sensing lights as well as timed interior lights give the idea you are home.
